Know How! from the experts at HGTV

Double blooms! • Mophead Hydrangeas don't need pruning- just remove dead stems.

  • Hydrangea bloom color depends on soil pH. Change your hydrangea blooms from pink to blue by adding aluminum to the soil and lowering its acidity (consult your local garden center).
  • Cool Afternoons: Hydrangeas thrive in early morning sun and late shade.
  • In the fall, once the flower petals feel 'leathery', cut long stems and hang upside down in a cool, dry, dark area and soon after, wa la! You've created ever-lasting flowers!
PLANTING:
  1. Dig a hole 2x the size of the root ball to allow for the plant’s roots to spread through loose dirt in the early weeks after planting.
  2. Remove plant from container and place in hole; keeping the top of the root ball level with the ground.
  3. Backfill with loose dirt. Water thoroughly and mulch about 2” deep around base.
