It's fresh tomato time right now, and we have a delicious tomato salad with balsamic Za'atar honey vinaigrette recipe to share! Check out the HGTV HOME Plants Patio Veggies and Herbs selection which features our tomatoes and other veggies and herbs.
Tomato Salad Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ripe tomatoes – a variety of medium size tomatoes, cherry and grape tomatoes both red and yellow, any of your favorites
- A handful of fresh basil
- Chunky sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Balsamic Za’atar Honey Vinaigrette (see recipe below)
Tomato Salad Directions:
1. Slice larger tomatoes into 1/4 inch slices and lay out on a serving dish.
2. Cut cherry & grape tomatoes in half and scatter over slices.
3. Cut fresh basil leaves into thin strips and scatter over tomatoes.
4. You can serve immediately with a sprinkle of sea salt and black pepper to taste and drizzle of dressing OR cover with plastic and chill until ready to serve and add sea salt, black pepper and dressing then.
Balsamic Za'atar Honey Vinaigrette Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsps Balsamic vinegar
- 1/3 cup white Balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar
- 2 tsps honey (we used local honey in Nashville, Tru Bee Honey)
- 1/2 cup fruity olive oil
- 1 generous tsp Za’atar Herb mix
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Balsamic Za'atar Honey Vinaigrette Directions:
1. Put all ingredients in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid and shake well to mix ingredients and emulsify. Taste and adjust seasoning to your liking if necessary. Store unused portion in refrigerator for up to 1 month. Always shake before using.
